Jimmy MacArthur Loy, 63, of Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at the Barren County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Glasgow, KY. He was born in Burkesville, KY on December 21, 1962 to the late Freddie MacArthur and Lillie Mae Crawhorn Loy.

Mr. Loy was a retired truck driver and worked for Jimmy Reliford Drilling for many years. He attended New Life for the Nations Church. Mr. Loy loved his dog & cat and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Schmidt Loy.

SURVIVORS:

3 children: Joshua Janes Loy of Point Blank, TX, Nathan Scott Loy of Oklahoma, and Autumn Marie Loy of TX

2 grandchildren: Kristan Scott Hammons and Ivar Thomas Scott Blanton

In honoring Mr. Loy’s wishes, the family chose cremation and no service is scheduled at this time.

Wanda Josephine Knight “Mammy”, 82, of Louisville, KY passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Baptist East, surrounded by her daughters.

Known by many names -- Wanda, Jo, Joey, Mom, Mammy, Aunt Jo – she was loved by all. She was born in Adair County, Kentucky, and lived there until after high school when she moved to Washington, D.C., and then Louisville, Kentucky.

Joey and her sister were raised by a single mother, Verdie Hood, when such things were virtually unheard of. The three of them lived with Granny Loy surrounded by aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Above all, the three were bound together by fierce love and loyalty. Those early years left an indelible mark. Nothing made “Mammy” happier than to be surrounded by family and friends.

She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Knight, in 1966. They started a family shortly thereafter. Three daughters followed by a lifetime of beautiful memories.
Joey and Ronnie were married for 58 years before his death.
 

In addition to being an adoring wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt, Joey worked for several years at General Electric. She later worked at Churchill Downs, enjoying the many
people she met each day.

Brenda Faye (Hare) Brumley, 79, of Jamestown, KY devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 just weeks shy of her 80^th birthday. She was born on October 20, 1946 in Adair County, KY to Myrtle and Elza Hare.

Brenda lived a life defined by faith, love, family, friendship, and devotion to others through her career as a nurse. Growing up, Brenda was a member of Cane Valley Christian Church, where she was saved at 14 years old. After marrying David, they attended the Nazarene Church in Jamestown, KY.

3 sons: Mike Brumley & wife Tami Cadiz, KY, Chris Brumley & wife Tricia of Versailles, KY and Brian Brumley & wife Jamie of Russell Springs, KY

6 grandchildren: Kyle, Conner, Alden, Ava, Molly, and Parker

In addition to her parents and stepfather, Gather Hancock, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, David Brumley; and two siblings: Jeanice Murrell (Gene Murrell) and Keith Hancock (Barbara Hancock).

Nothing brought Brenda greater happiness than her family. She cherished every moment spent with them and especially treasured being “Grandma or Nanma” to her grandchildren. They will forever have memories of her welcoming hugs, of licking the spoon after helping her stir fudge, and the sweet smells that were always coming from her kitchen as she baked them goodies. Raising her three boys was one of Brenda’s greatest joys. They will always fondly remember her pinto beans and cornbread and countless other homecooked meals enjoyed as a family around the table.

Through decades of dedicated nursing, Brenda left a legacy of healing and comfort to those she cared for. She held a special place in her heart for Shirley Carnahan and Bobbie Roy, who were more than just neighbors, but loyal friends who stood beside her as they together navigated many life’s joys and challenges over the last several years.

Doyle Wade Stearns, 79, of Greensburg, KY died Friday, October 2, 2026 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. He was born September 9, 1947 in Russell County to the late Thomas Ray and Ada Wade Dunbar Stearns. 
 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Stearns; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nellie and George Henry Keltner; and two step-grandchildren: Abigail and Gabrielle Burton.

Doyle was a retired logger and loved singing the gospel of his Lord and Savior to others.  Whether he was singing in his home church, Robinson Chapel, or traveling with Living Waters, he loved giving his testimony in song.  Besides his family and singing the gospel, he loved coon hunting and fooling around with his little herd of cattle.

He loved being around people and has never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Billy R. Burton, 85, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Thursday, October 1, 2026 at his home. He was born September 23, 1941, in Adair County, to the late Ernest and Hattie Corbin Burton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Burton and three brothers, Ernest Burton, Jr., Glen Burton and Donald Burton

Billy was a member of Trinity Church, a retired truck driver, retired from Teamsters, loved working in his apple orchard, was a strong man of faith, who loved God and his family.

Charles Lewis "George" Robertson, 81, of Louisville, KY (formerly of Russell Springs), the son of the late Lewis and Dorothy Richard Robertson, was born on January 14, 1945 in Russell County, KY. He departed this life on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Louisville.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. George enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching UK basketball and the Cincinnati Reds.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 48 years, Judy Penick Robertson on December 26, 2021.

Joanne Mayo Rice, 82, of Frankfort, KY died Monday, September 28, 2026. She was born on January 22, 1944 in Rogersville, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Phyllis and Champ D. Mayo.

Joanne grew up in Clarksville, Tennessee where she attended Woodlawn School, then graduated from Clarksville High School in 1962. Her childhood best friend to the end was Molly Lisenbee Cook. She met her husband while attending Austin Peay College. They later married on September 18, 1963. Joanne and Bill were married for 63 years.

After moving to the Murray, Kentucky area, Joanne made dear friends among farming neighbors, at Murray Christian Fellowship, and as a founding member of Christian Community Church. During her early marriage, Joanne focused on raising her four children but later returned to college. Joanne graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 1985, followed by a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 1993.

Joanne spent a fulfilling career helping and protecting the children, families, and vulnerable adults of Kentucky. She began her social work career with the Department for Social Services first in Daviess County and then Franklin County. Her last and most challenging social work position was as a Custody Evaluator for the Friend of the Court’s Office at the Fayette County Courthouse from 1993-2003.

Joanne’s favorite role in life was Mama and Granny. She always had time for her children and grandkids and always remembered their birthdays and favorite things.
