Candlelight Vigil Unites Tucson Community in Prayer for Missing Nancy Guthrie

In a heartwarming display of unity, over 500 residents in Tucson gathered for a candlelight vigil to pray for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show cohost Savannah Guthrie. Nancy has been missing since January 31, and the community came together not just to show support, but to shine a light in the midst of uncertainty. Attendees filled St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, creating an atmosphere thick with hope and solidarity for the Guthrie family during this difficult time.

Sally Shamrell, a local actress and former reporter, helped organize the event after Savannah appealed for prayers via social media. She noted how important it was for the community to gather, saying that it's about wrapping arms around each other as they await news. Pastor John Tittle led the prayers, emphasizing the strength of community over despair while honoring Nancy’s legacy and the goodness she shared with those around her.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate Nancy’s disappearance, treating it as a potential crime. As the search stretches on, Savannah and her siblings remain hopeful, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support from their hometown. This situation is a poignant reminder of how even the smallest flames of hope can illuminate the darkest nights—and how a shared bond can become a beacon of strength in hard times.
