Budget-Friendly Super Bowl Tips: Enjoy the Game Without Overspending

With Super Bowl Sunday fast approaching, many fans are looking for ways to enjoy the big game without breaking the bank. According to the National Retail Federation, the average consumer plans to spend just over $94 this year on food and drinks. While that may seem like a lot, there are plenty of savvy strategies to keep costs down while still having a blast.

Jackie Jackson, a district manager for Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions, emphasizes the importance of planning ahead. She advises making a grocery list and checking weekly ads for discounts before heading out to the store. Bulk buying can also lead to savings, especially with promotions like “You Pick Four” deals. If cooking isn’t your strong suit, consider the store’s ready-made options, like bulk sandwiches or fried chicken to feed the crowd.

For those who prefer to watch the game out, Johnny Leal, general manager of Pacific Beach Alehouse, suggests looking for cover-free venues and asking about portion sizes. Sharing appetizers or entrees not only cuts costs but can make for a fun and social dining experience. It's all about enjoying the game in a way that fits your budget while still having a great time—because who doesn't love a good plate of nachos and a thrilling football game?
