The San Diego area saw quite the spectacle on January 22, when a police chase ended with gunfire in La Presa. Edwaun Walter Thames, 39, found himself in a precarious situation after being pursued by San Diego Police for driving a stolen vehicle. The chase kicked off when officers spotted the car and tried to pull him over, but Thames wasn’t interested in stopping.
Instead, he sped away, weaving through streets until he crashed into a light pole. Exiting the damaged vehicle, Thames reached for an object resembling a firearm, prompting Officer Henry Ingram Jr. to take action and shoot him. Thankfully, Thames’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening, which gives everyone a chance to reflect on the wild turn of events. After all that turmoil, you have to wonder if he thought he could simply outdrive the cops—and what he thought would happen next!
