Sharp HealthCare Nurses Win Big: New Contract Brings Pay Raises and Benefits

In a significant win for nurses and their patients alike, Sharp HealthCare has officially ratified a new contract for its registered nurse bargaining unit following seven intense months of negotiations. This agreement, which follows the expiration of the previous contract on September 30, 2025, promises a slew of benefits designed to improve the lives of those on the front lines of healthcare.

Under the four-year contract, nurses will see a 5% raise in the first year, followed by 4% annual increases for the next three years. They're also being granted 72 hours of sick leave upfront, along with improved retiree medical benefits. It's clear that Sharp HealthCare is taking steps to support their nurses—because happy nurses make for better patient care!

Susan Stone, Senior Vice President at Sharp HealthCare, expressed optimism about the new agreement, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to both its nurses and the community. Andrea Muir, a Sharp Med-Surg/Telemetry nurse and union president, echoed this sentiment, highlighting that a united nursing staff leads to improved care for the San Diego community. With contracts like this, it seems we're on the right path to healthier tomorrows—one nurse at a time!
