San Diego County Opens for Valentine’s Day Weddings: A New Romantic Tradition

Love is in the air in San Diego! For the very first time, the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk’s Office will be open for civil wedding ceremonies on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026. This special move means couples can celebrate their love on the most romantic day of the year without the usual Saturday closures that are common in government offices. Located at the County Administration Center, the office will welcome couples from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's the perfect backdrop for a wedding with either an outdoor arbor at Waterfront Park or cozy indoors in one of several ceremony rooms.

Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Jordan Marks expressed his excitement about this unique opportunity. Aiming to blend bureaucratic functions with romance, he promised a day filled with love stories. Couples can book appointments online or walk in, making it accessible for those ready to say "I do." The cost for a marriage license is $129, and couples can have their nuptials officiated for an additional $107. With around 25,000 licenses issued and more than 11,000 weddings performed annually, Valentine’s Day is consistently a popular choice at the office.

So, whether you’re saying your vows for the first time or renewing them, this Valentine's Day is set to be unforgettable. Love really does conquer all—especially when government offices celebrate it!
