In a generous act of kindness, International Relief Teams has donated a whopping 28,776 pounds of peanut and sunflower seed butters to the San Diego Food Bank. This donation arrives as a timely lifeline for many San Diegans facing food insecurity, a reality made harder for families due to loss of public benefits and continued financial struggles.
The shipment consists of 15,840 jars of peanut butter and 12,936 jars of sunflower butter, both prized for their long shelf life and protein-packed goodness. Rose Uranga, the COO of International Relief Teams, highlights how vital these contributions are, stating each food shipment plays an important role in meeting urgent needs.
Casey Castillo, CEO of the San Diego Food Bank, added that nut butters are among the most requested items, appealing not just for their nutritional value but also their kid-friendly taste. With this donation, countless families will have access to a reliable food source, proving that sometimes, a jar of peanut butter can go a long way in spreading hope and nourishment in our communities.
